The new TWP® 1500 formula is designed to penetrate better, dry faster and outperform the previous TWP® 500 series formula.

TWP® 1500 Series is an EPA registered wood preservative which prevents structural damage and wood decay on exterior above ground wood surfaces such as fencing, decking, wood siding, log homes, and roofing. TWP® 1500 Series resists water absorption that causes warping, cracking and splitting as well as preventing freeze damage in colder climates.

I did the deck stain calc for 900sqft and it indicated I should get 9 gallons. But the Stain Info said each gallon covers 150-250sqft. Which means 4-6 gallons. So I don't over order, what would be good? This is only for a flat surface, no railings.

We used TWP 1511 two years ago. Can we apply TWP 1502 over the TWP 1511?

Love the product. Used 1502 redwood last season here in Michigan. Need advice.. I am going to use the same product again but we had some trouble with slivers in the kids feet.. is it best to lightly sand deck boards then just blow it off and stain it OR sand, power wash then stain? Any help is appreciated thank you

Use the Gemini Restore Kit first. After, if needed, light hand or pole sand any slivers.

      See for tips: https://www.twpstainhelp.com/prepping-new-wood-for-twp-stains/

Same for fence unless it is rough sawn wood.

Does your stated coverage consider a wet on wet application or do i need to double?

I was informed by a friend, that and effective manner of application could be to spray this product out of a pump sprayer. Such as one used to spray weeds around the house. Is that possible with this product?

      TWP Stains · 03/21/2021
It can be applied with a pump sprayer but you will need to back brush to ensure an even application.

I have about 4 gallons of 1500 left over from 5-6 years ago. I just put a sample on a test board to compare colors with another brand. To my surprise, the 6 yr old stain went on well and once dry beaded water better than the competition (Ready Seal).

My question: is there any way my very old stain is still functional? If I use it on a side fence that’s not readily seen (between my fence and neighbors fence) any chance it’ll still protect the wood?

      TWP Stains · 03/14/2021
If the old stain mixes 1005 smooth and there is not any clumping or skinning of the stain, you should be okay to use it.

I have a painted cedar wood fence (3 years old) that I power washed down to the original wood surface. The natural wood color and grain appearance is absolutely beautiful. I would like to apply a water seal but am unsure which of your products is most appropriate to keep the natural color and grain appearance. Would you please assist me?

Your info here is not clear - I see both 50-90 degrees AND 45-95 degrees as far as application temperatures. What is actually recommended?

      TWP Stains · 11/21/2020
      50 is the low temp.

Ok thanks. FYI - the main "TWP 1500 Stain Info" box here on this site says "45-95 F".

Hi, how many gallons of twp 1500 for a 250 sq. ft. deck? How many coats do you recommend for Douglas fir? Also, will this protect douglas fir deck boards?

It may not take correctly. Do a test board and see how it dries after 24 hours making sure it is not sticky or shiny.

    Hello,

My deck is hardwood (mahogany). Is your product a stain and sealer from weather all in one product? Which product would be best for a hardwood deck?
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      TWP Stains · 10/16/2020
Yes, TWP is a stain and a sealer. Use the Rustic color in either the 100 or 1500 Series.

My new smooth cedar fence is installed in Southern California. After letting the fence dry out for one year, it was cleaned, fuzzies buffed-out, brightener applied, and finally, one coat of TWP stain #1530 was applied. (It looks awesome!)

If I understand correctly, your recommendation is that after waiting approximately 12 months, I should clean the fence, and then follow-up with a second coat of TWP stain?

And finally, what is the maintenance schedule following those initial two coats of stain? (ie; how often would I need to clean & re-apply the stain?)

The contractor that added the skirt to my deck put the boards on the ground. Now the boards are stained with water marks. It has one coat of TWP 1500 Cedartone that is about 2 yrs old. Any ideas on how I can the stains off before I restain with a new coat TWP? Do I need to dry the ends of the boards out with a heat gun? Completely strip and sand?

You will need to strip and brighten but it will not be possible to get the water stains completely out as it is deep throughout the wood.

I have a western red cedar fence in Oregon. I have stripped and brightened it with the RAD products. It has dried for a week in 75 degree weather. I am now ready to stain with the 25 gallons of TWP 1500 that I purchased. However, it is very foggy until 10a in the mornings right now in the fall that puts a lot of moisture/dew in the air and on the surface of the fence. Do I need to wait until later in the day to stain? It would probably have to be 11 or so before it dries completely. It also starts to get dew in the air around 6p, making for a very short work day. I have a week before the rain comes and need to get this done. What do you recommend? Thank you

Do I have to wait until deck railings stop beading water before I can apply a new coat of stain. It will be same cedartone color? Hoping to avoid having to strip the old stain.

Our redwood siding has been completely sanded, ready for TWP1511. Do I understand from your reply to Brian Bohenick below that since it's sanded, we should NOT plan on a 2nd coat, neither wet on wet nor a couple days later? Just one coat is best?

      Just one coat.
