TWP 1500 is a Semi-transparent Oil-Based wood stain and preservative that is allowed in all 50 states.

The new TWP® 1500 formula is designed to penetrate better, dry faster and outperform the previous TWP® 500 series formula.

TWP® 1500 Series is an EPA registered wood preservative which prevents structural damage and wood decay on exterior above ground wood surfaces such as fencing, decking, wood siding, log homes, and roofing. TWP® 1500 Series resists water absorption that causes warping, cracking and splitting as well as preventing freeze damage in colder climates.

TWP® 1500 Series is a low VOC preservative with special U.V. absorbing pigments that prevent unsightly wood graying, darkening and fading. The selected mildewcides inhibit the growth of mold and mildew which assist in preventing premature discoloration.

I did the deck stain calc for 900sqft and it indicated I should get 9 gallons. But the Stain Info said each gallon covers 150-250sqft. Which means 4-6 gallons. So I don't over order, what would be good? This is only for a flat surface, no railings.

    If you coated the deck with twp 1500 2-3 years ago, and want to recoat it with the same product, do you need to strip it? or can you just clean it and apply the new coat?

    You need to strip and brighten the wood for the prep.

    You need to remove the Behr so use the stripper and brightener.

    The TWP stripper/brightener worked great on our cedar deck even without a pressure washer. Our deck had also been done twice with the Cabots Australian Oil (original and then reformulated). I only needed to lightly sand about 5% to get the remaining residue off and then the whole thing very lightly with an orbital sander to get uniform absorption. Barely spent 2 hours sanding on a 400 sq foot deck. Much easier than my previous experience with removing and recoating using other products. The two coats of TWP 1500 stained it very nicely. The older wood (20+ years) did stain a little darker than some newer (less than three years) replacement boards but that is to be expected.

    I have 310 sq ft redwood deck in San Diego CA. I recently sanded away old stain (Superdeck semi-transparent) with 60 grit. Will sand with 100 grit then use restore a deck cleaner and brightener. I want neutral look with slight red tinge. Would I us TWP100 or TWP1500? Transparent or semi-transparent? How many coats? Which color (redwood, CA redwood, Natural)would give me the somewhat natural look? How much do I need?

    Only the 1500 is allowed in CA. 2 light coats applied wet on wet. Calculator is on right for amount needed. Any color will work for you. Maybe Cal Red.
