TWP 1500 is a Semi-transparent Oil-Based wood stain and preservative that is allowed in all 50 states.

The new TWP® 1500 formula is designed to penetrate better, dry faster and outperform the previous TWP® 500 series formula.

TWP® 1500 Series is an EPA registered wood preservative which prevents structural damage and wood decay on exterior above ground wood surfaces such as fencing, decking, wood siding, log homes, and roofing. TWP® 1500 Series resists water absorption that causes warping, cracking and splitting as well as preventing freeze damage in colder climates.

TWP® 1500 Series is a low VOC preservative with special U.V. absorbing pigments that prevent unsightly wood graying, darkening and fading. The selected mildewcides inhibit the growth of mold and mildew which assist in preventing premature discoloration.

TWP® 1500 Series will keep your wood beautiful, fresh and looking new longer. The ease of application and maintenance will allow you to enjoy your investment for years to come.

I did the deck stain calc for 900sqft and it indicated I should get 9 gallons. But the Stain Info said each gallon covers 150-250sqft. Which means 4-6 gallons. So I don't over order, what would be good? This is only for a flat surface, no railings.

    David E.:
Hi, I'm installing new T&G cypress boards to my patio ceiling in New Orleans, LA. The surface is smooth. Do you recommend the same prep as for a deck before applying the 1500 series stain?

    Yes that would be correct.

    Delyan:
If I'm going to strip, brighten and sand my deck, in what order those should be? I'm not sure what kind of wood it is (it's an old deck) and I'm planning to apply 1503?

Strip, sand, brighten, and lightly pressure wash well as a rinse.

What will happen if we walk on the deck only after 15 hours or so?

If it is dry nothing will happen.

    MN Kent:
I live on a MN lake and have a 1 year old Cedar dock, with nothing applied prior. The dock boards are 48" x 5.5" x 1" and there are 120 of them. I've been told to add a little bit of silica to the 2nd coat to add traction. Can you give me your suggestions for following: Which stain; is pressure washing day before adequate for untreated year old wood; how many coats should I apply; is it appropriate to add a little silica to the last coat for traction; and finally how much will I need if I'm staining all sides of the dock?

You cannot add silica to a penetrating stain like TWP. Pre with the Gemini Restore Kit and pressure washing. Let dry for at least two days. Apply two coats wet on wet. Amount needed can be figured out by using our calculator the to right of these comments. Any other info can be found on our help site: http://www.twpstainhelp.com/

    JWatson:
I have an older deck made of pressure treated pine. I cleaned it and stained it two years ago with TWP stain. Last year I replaced a few of the boards with new pressure-treated wood. Do I need to strip and brighten the entire deck before re-staining?

You should be able to use the Gemini Restore Kit for this as the prep.

    ammille2:
I've purchased some TWP 1500 Series Pecan to stain my red cedar wood fence. It's alternating board on board, so I've got a stain brush to be able to access the rear boards. Can you recommend a roller brush to most efficiently stain the forward boards? Or will the same brush suffice? Or is a sprayer an option? The TWP dealer mentioned there may be more waste spraying with the type of fence I've got. Many thanks in advance.

Use an exterior flat stain pad. See here:

Where can I purchase in Canada-I'm in Nova Scotia

TWP 1500 and 100 are not sold in Canada as it is not compliant for your VOC laws there.

    Paula Johns:
I stained my 300 sqft deck with a defy stain last year. After a particularly harsh winter, the stain is already soaking into rhe wood or wearing away but not peeling. What steps do you suggest to switch from the defy to TWP 1500?

You need to strip and remove the old stain if you want to use TWP. Try the Restore A Deck Stripper and pressure wash off. After it is stripper, you will need to apply the wood brightener.

I'm looking to stain my fence (200 ft, 6 ft high, both sides of course) with the Black Walnut 1500 series. I have a paint sprayer that I was going to use. How many containers do you recommend and what is the recommended best way to apply?

2400 sq. feet you will need about 20-25 gallons for 2 coats. Spray on first coat and back brush second coat.

    Hi there,

i live in the Seattle area so it's damp and wet a fair amount of the time in the winter. I just had 323 feet of cedar fence put up. It's 6 feet tall. i want a semi-transparent stain for it. Would you suggest the 100 or the 1500 series for my situation?

Either series would work well but most would use the 100 in Seattle. Please read this about new wood:
