I live on a MN lake and have a 1 year old Cedar dock, with nothing applied prior. The dock boards are 48" x 5.5" x 1" and there are 120 of them. I've been told to add a little bit of silica to the 2nd coat to add traction. Can you give me your suggestions for following: Which stain; is pressure washing day before adequate for untreated year old wood; how many coats should I apply; is it appropriate to add a little silica to the last coat for traction; and finally how much will I need if I'm staining all sides of the dock?
You cannot add silica to a penetrating stain like TWP. Pre with the Gemini Restore Kit and pressure washing. Let dry for at least two days. Apply two coats wet on wet. Amount needed can be figured out by using our calculator the to right of these comments. Any other info can be found on our help site: http://www.twpstainhelp.com/
