TWP 1500 is a Semi-transparent Oil-Based wood stain and preservative that is allowed in all 50 states.

The new TWP® 1500 formula is designed to penetrate better, dry faster and outperform the previous TWP® 500 series formula.

TWP® 1500 Series is an EPA registered wood preservative which prevents structural damage and wood decay on exterior above ground wood surfaces such as fencing, decking, wood siding, log homes, and roofing. TWP® 1500 Series resists water absorption that causes warping, cracking and splitting as well as preventing freeze damage in colder climates.

TWP® 1500 Series is a low VOC preservative with special U.V. absorbing pigments that prevent unsightly wood graying, darkening and fading. The selected mildewcides inhibit the growth of mold and mildew which assist in preventing premature discoloration.

TWP® 1500 Series will keep your wood beautiful, fresh and looking new longer. The ease of application and maintenance will allow you to enjoy your investment for years to come.

I did the deck stain calc for 900sqft and it indicated I should get 9 gallons. But the Stain Info said each gallon covers 150-250sqft. Which means 4-6 gallons. So I don't over order, what would be good? This is only for a flat surface, no railings.

I am about to install 5/4 x 6 Meranti Deck in NY. I see that you advise not to apply the TWP 1500 finish to any new decking material for 4-12 months. I do not have a problem finishing the deck in April but what about the sides and bottom of the boards. Would it be advisable to apply a coat of sealer on these to protect them from the weather as they will not be accessible after the deck is installed.

    Erin P:
I've ordered a 5 gallon bucket of the 1500 series stain and am planning to apply it not this weekend, but the next. The temperatures are supposed to be in the 50s during the days, but down to the high 30s in the evening. I know the optimum temperature to apply is 45 to 95 degrees, but will it be a problem if temperatures dip below 45 in the evening? What does this affect? Drying time?

It cannot drop below freezing at night while the stain is still wet. It can drop below 45 degrees but not while applying. These temps will make the dry and curing time much longer.

I am working on a cedar sided house in lake tahoe California and am wondering which product would best replace your older version of TWP515 Lt Cedar? Thank you

TWO 1515 Honeytone is essentially the same color as the 515 Light Cedar.

I was wondering if the clear would be ok on new cedar siding. I would like the color as natural as possible. It says clear has no UV protection. What do you recommend?

Clear will not prevent UV graying. Lightest tint that will is the Honeytone.

Hi. I ordered three different samples from you based on the samples shown on your web page. I like the Cedartone, but have a question about it. In my experience, most stains called "cedar", have an orangey tone. Yours does not (looks more natural). I am ready to order the 5 gals that I will need, but wanted to ask about the accuracy of your sample colors. I don't want an orangey deck! Can I safely assume that the color will be true on my 1-year old p.t. pine deck (I applied the sample to a scrap of the same decking.) Thank you.

The 1501 cedartone is a brownish/orange, not a straight orangy color.

    JVC:
I am staining cedar siding on my cabin and everything I read said you need 24-48 hours of dry weather after applying. It rained a little the day after I stained which was not supposed to. Should I be worried or concerned about it? I am in Washington and have over half of it left to stain so a day of dry after is going to be tough. Thanks for your help!

You will most likely not have any issues with the siding that had a small amount of rain on it the next day.

I'm considering purchasing TWP 1500 series stain for my deck in New York state. How many years can I expect this stain to be effective and shed water. I do not have a problem spending good money for a product, so long as it works!

Typically needs to be reapplied every 2 years on a horizontal surface like a deck.
