TWP 1500 is a Semi-transparent Oil-Based wood stain and preservative that is allowed in all 50 states.

The new TWP® 1500 formula is designed to penetrate better, dry faster and outperform the previous TWP® 500 series formula.

TWP® 1500 Series is an EPA registered wood preservative which prevents structural damage and wood decay on exterior above ground wood surfaces such as fencing, decking, wood siding, log homes, and roofing. TWP® 1500 Series resists water absorption that causes warping, cracking and splitting as well as preventing freeze damage in colder climates.

TWP® 1500 Series is a low VOC preservative with special U.V. absorbing pigments that prevent unsightly wood graying, darkening and fading. The selected mildewcides inhibit the growth of mold and mildew which assist in preventing premature discoloration.

We have used this product twice on our pressure-treated wood deck (. It applies easily and looks terrific when done. We are DIYers with limited experience with this sort of project, and had no trouble following the application directions. We had to address a lot of wood damage before applying it--severe UV damage, mold and mildew--but with the right prep, we couldn't be happier with the outcome. The second time we used it, we did over-apply a bit and had a lot of shiny excess stain after a few hours of drying. We read the tips here on the website and the next day we wiped off the excess using a light misting of mineral spirits and shop rags. Easy fix and it looks great. Never any peeling, which is just what we wanted, and it made our heavily damaged wood look better than we thought possible. I love finding a product that works as well as advertised.

around 384 - 400 sq foot range.  It's one side of a lattice fence so I am not sure if that is a bump up or down.  Thank you

3-4 gallons should be about right for two coats.

            More questions.

We purchased and hand brush apply TWP 1515 slightly over 2 years ago on the new fence and it looks like attached picture now.

We are getting new fences this month and we are wondering if 1515 is too light for UV protection, and if we can reply more on some of the problematic fences post power wash.  Or if we need to go darker?

            thank you

I just added new rough cut cedar to my deck railings.  How long do I need to wait to stain the rough cut cedar and what is the optimal temperature range for the application?  It's December in TX and the high temps are in the mid to low 50s with early morning temps in the mid 30s to mid 40s.

You can stain rough sawn wood right away. Temps between 50-90. Cannot drop below freezing the first night.

Am installing a cypress wood ceiling in a SW Florida covered lanai area.  It is a covered area with not direct sun or water, just the humidity in the air.  What is the best product, and how long can i expect it to last

Use the TWP 1500 Series. It should last for many years since it is covered. 5-10.

I stained my deck 3 years ago with TWP 1500 series. As you can see, it’s definitely ready to be re-stained. Since the stain is so blotchy, would it be best if I strip and brighten, or will cleaning and brightening be adequate prep? Also, I sanded the rail caps which had a different brand of stain, is cleaning and brightening adequate?

Clean and brighten all while pressure washing will work for this.

We have used TWP in the past for our log home.  We cannot recall what we used last. Any trouble with resuming TWP over or existing stain?

No. You will have to remove any prior stain brands first before using the TWP.

I've been using TWP 100 for 10 years and love it.  Now it cannot be shipped to Colorado so I am forced to go with the TWP 1500.   Several basic questions and I cannot figure out how to search the Q&A.   Can I go right over the 100 with the 1500?   How will the 1500 compare with the 100?   Thank you!

The 1500 lasts the same as the 100 series. For prep strip and brighten for prep with the Restore A Deck kit.

I have 4, 12x12x12 cypress beams and 4, 8x8x10 cypress beams I want to stain. How many gallons would you suggest? I would like to stay as close as possible to the natural color. After looking at your gallery 1520 Pecan looks to be the closest, would you agree?
    Thank you

I have 2 partial cans of twp stain 1530. They are about 5 years old and have been kept in my attached garage in Michigan. Does the stain deteriorate over time? Would it be a bad idea to use the old stain along with 1 new gallon of the same color?
    Thank you.

Hi, I will be staining an older deck in Michigan. Would you recommend going with the 100 or 1500 series? I want the longest lasting results with the least amount of maintenance. Thanks!
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      TWP Stains · 08/03/2022
They last the same on an older deck and have some maintenance. Most use the 100 Series in MI but the 1500 is just as good.

    Hello,
Would like to stain a section of my cedar deck to match the rest of my newly installed mahogany deck. Would I need to mix two of the 1500 series stain colors and if so which would you recommend that will resemble the color of mahogany which has tones of red and brown. Also would like to know if there is a retail store that Sells the semi-solid pro series in Connecticut or New York.
    Thanks

I would buy some samples, blend and test for color. Maybe try mixing redwood with dark oak. They sell small sample bottles.

It is not possible to make cedar wood match a hardwood like Mahogany and there is no ratio that we know of that will get you close. We sell online only.

May be a stupid question, and I think I already know the answer. I have fresh cut cypress posts that my customer wants to put outside of her house and have your product applied immediately.
I advised against it. I’m assuming that your product shouldn’t be applied to wet wood because it wood seal the moisture in and would then never dry, correct?
Either that or the wet wood wouldn’t allow your product to fully absorb.

20 to 40 year old 1500 SF multi-level pine deck that wraps around a pool, in Michigan that has had TWP products on it in the past, just not sure which ones.  Stripped and power washed it, ready for stain and sealer, which series would you recommend using, the 100 or 1500?

Understand. Asking as how much prep will be needed if we went with this something non wood. Just bought 25 gal for fence and deck and wanted to stick with the same products/two across the home. Hoping i can just stain over or do I need to strip etc

Can the 1500 series stains be mixed with the 100 series stains?  I have 5 gallons of 100 series Rustic on hand for staining my back deck. If I need more than the 5 gallons to complete 2 coats, can I buy an extra gallon or 2 of the 1500 series Rustic to complete the job?
