My deck is well weathered CCA pine, 15 years old. The contractor proposes to use TWP 200, which apparently is his standard for deck refinishing to give a two year warranty. I read here that TWP 200 is intended for shake/shingle roofs. Your thoughts? Thanks.

    Guy

Yes the TWP 200 is intended for shakes and shingles. It has a high amount of paraffin oil. It can be used on decking with very good results. The negative is that it goes on very dark and can take 2 weeks to reach final color and to even dry fully. For this reason alone, we suggest the TWP 100 or 1500 that has a normal dry and cure of 4-24 hours.

I have a cedar and bamboo paneled fence, I was looking at the twp 1500, will it apply to the bamboo? I want to keep it from mildewing and have the entire fence looking bright and clean

The TWP 100 and the TWP 1500 will not work on Bamboo.

I have new cedar deck (kansas city) 3 weeks old. Want to keep natural color as much as possible (would use Clear but want UV protection) so my questions are: does the wood have to age, plan to use TWP 100 is this the best for my situation.

Yes it does have to age and needs to be prepped. See this please for more info:

I live in Ga - 8 year old deck good condition. Horizontal is pressure treated pine and verticals cedar. Had Olympic elite stain done 2 years ago. What prep is recommend before next coat? Do I just use the 100 or the 1500 when I stain? When would you use storm guard instead of 100?

Storm Shield is discontinued. Use the 100 series. Make sure to prep by removing the Olympic first. Try the Restore A Deck Stain Stripper and pressure washing to remove.

Yes you will need the 1500 for RI. If the wood is rough cut, then you can stain right away with no cleaning. Make sure wood is dry. If smooth, wait 4 months and prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit. 15-20 gallons for 2000 sq. feet and two coats of the TWP

Hi, I have just installed a 6 x160 ft cedar fence. I live in Rhode Island. About how long should I wait before staining? Since its a new fence, do I need to clean it? I want to stain both sides, about how much will I need and how many coats? I guess I have to use 1500 because I am in Rhode Island? Thank you!

If using the 1500 series, can only one coat be applied to year old bare wood? Is the 1500 series more opaque that the 100 series?

Both the 100 and 1500 are semi-transparent and are not any different in opacity. Since it is older wood, it would be best to apply with 2 coats "wet on wet".

Hi - I live in northern NJ and in the Fall 2015 I cleaned my old treated SYP deck and applied TWP 1500. The deck looks fairly good for its age and water still beads on the treated surface. What treatment do you recommend for the Spring/Summer? Should I clean and apply another coat? Thanks.

I would suggest leaving it alone for now. Apply a coat in the Fall or Spring of next year.

Hi Have a new brown treated wood 2x6 deck.It sat thru the winter, some boards are consistent some are blotchy. I want to put semi transparent stain on it. Should I use a stripper, brighter, cleaner, or should I sand it before staining? Also which series should I use?Are your samples the same color in all different series? I live in B.C Canada, close to Seattle. ThankYou

TWP is not allowed in Canada. To answer your other questions, see this article on new wood:

    http://www.twpstainhelp.com/prepping-new-wood-for-twp-stains/

    Colors vary by series.

We are wanting to stain the cedar siding on our house. It was stained with TWP 101 Cedartone Natural likely more than 10 about years ago. Which would be best to use at this time?

Use either the 100 again or the 1500 series. Make sure to prep with the Gemini Restore Kit first.

    Theresa P.:
Hi - we just had our deck rebuilt. Pressure treated pine. Understand we cannot stain until 4+ mos of aging.

Not sure whether to use 100 or 1500?
We live in North Carolina. Deck is on the back side of the house (South) and gets full afternoon sun.

    Thanks!

Use the 100 Series. Prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit after the 4 months. Only 1 coat the first time applying.
