This calculator will help you determine the proper amount of stain and prepping supplies needed to refinish your deck using TWP 100 or TWP 1500 Series.

This calculator is intended to provide you with an approximate estimate only. Material requirements may vary according to application method, surface condition and weather conditions.

You will get two prepping results. You need one, not both options:

  • First will offer the Gemini Restore Kit. This will be used for new, gray, dirty decks and for applying TWP over an intact older coating of TWP.
  • Second is the Restore-A-Deck Stripper and Restore-A-Deck Brightener. This is used for removing old coatings of stain. Use this if you are switching from a different brand to TWP or if you have a neglected coating of TWP that has failed unevenly.

If you have questions as to which to use, please ask below.

    Tim Hudson:
I have a wood deck 28' x 14' next to a salt water pool', pressure treated pine that has been in place for a year with no stain coating treatment - one year drying out period. The deck has just been sitting there, unused for the year, so no direct pool salt water exposure, no traffic, etc. - just rain and Texas sun exposure). Would you recommend the TWP 100 or 1500 and why (what features of either the 100 or 1500 make it the better choice)?

Prep first with the Gemini Restore Kit and stain with the 100 Series for a newer deck in TX. It will penetrate better.

I have a 14W X 10H X 24L Pergola made of 2X6 Western Red Cedar It was treated with Deckscapes transparent in 2008. I wood like to keep a Reddish brown tone (stronger on the red) What do you recommend and how much, It is a bit complex to actually calculate the amount of Sq Ftg cause outside frame has double timbers and 8 4/6 uprights,
Please help if you will, Thanks

Hard to say for the amount of stain needed with a sq. footage number. Color I would look at the 1516 Rustic.

Looking to do the cedar siding in the 1500 series. It has previous stain, but wood is in great condition. I want a mostly transparent stain. I'm thinking Natural or Honey. What do you guys recommend for color and preparation?

Best to apply the Restore A Deck Stripper and pressure wash off the old stain. Use the Restore A Deck Brightener when done. Please read this about colors:

    Todd Gill:
I have a fence I am looking to stain with the 1500. The fence length is a shared fence so I only have to stain one side
and it is 85ft on both sides of the property and the width is 35 feet and I would have to paint both sides of that. How much stain would you recommend me purchasing?

    Summary
85 length on each side must stain one side
35 width (total) and both sides must be painted

Please give us a total sq. footage. Thanks!
