These calculations will help you determine the square footage for the proper amount of stain and prepping supplies needed to refinish your deck or fence using TWP 100 or TWP 1500 Series.

This is intended to provide you with an approximate estimate only. Material requirements may vary according to application method, surface condition, and weather conditions.

Prepping Options

  • Gemini Restore Kit. This will be used for new, gray, dirty decks and for applying TWP over an intact older coating of TWP.
  • Restore-A-Deck Stripper and Restore-A-Deck Brightener. This is used for removing old coatings of stain. Use this if you are switching from a different brand to TWP or if you have a neglected coating of TWP that has failed unevenly.

Deck Sq. Footage

Flooring Length x width =?

Railing Length x height =?

Steps Width x Depth x #of Steps =?

Add up all 3 for the Total Sq. footage.

Fence Sq. Footage

Length x height =?

Multiply x 2 for both sides = Total Sq. Footage

Hello....I need to stain a new cedar fence using your 1500 Series stain that is approximately 120 feet long by 6 feet high. It will be stained on both sides. How many gallons of stain would you recommend I purchase?

    Thank you!

Building a brand new cedar fence that is 6' tall and total length of 300' long. How much TWP 1500 would I need to treat both sides?

    Thanks

Total sq. footage is about 3600. For two coats applied "wet on wet" you would need about 30-35 gallons. If you want to apply just 1 coat, you would need roughly 20-25 gallons.

    David Latch:
I do not mean to insult anyone, but what is the difference between Gemini RAD and store bought cleaner/brightner from companies like Behr and Olympic?

Their products are not as effective and are bleached based. Ours are biodegradable, prep better for the TWP, and concentrates,

    musky:
I just pressure washed my deck which had that HORRIBLE Rustoleum Restore on it!!Some of the boards are greyish while others are lighter. The deck is in full sun most of the day so I need a stain to withstand the sun, won't chip, peel or fade AND easy to apply. I like the 1530 series of the "Natural Carmel/Golden tone.

You must remove 100% of the Rustoleum if you want to use a penetrating semi-transparent stain like the TWP. If applied properly and prepped properly, it will not peel or chip. Fades through the years and can be cleaned and reapplied as needed.

    Kamilah:
    Hi,

I have a one year old cedar fence. How long should I expect one coat of twp 1500 to last before I need to paint again? Do you offer and garuntees?

    Thanks

TWP stains last about 3-6 years on vertical wood like a fence.
