TWP 1500 Series is available in 9 semi-transparent color choices that penetrate into the wood while enhancing the natural wood grain. The 1504 Series is higher in solids content which may result in “richer” colors than the 100 Series. In general, the 1500 Series color will not match the colors in the 100.

Final TWP 1504 Black Walnut color will vary based on:

  • Type of Wood
  • Age of Wood
  • Prepping of Wood
  • Application method

installing a new property line fence of mangaris. Can you tell me the best method of prepping, how well the 1504 adheres to the wood, and roughly how often the fence will need refinishing?  Mostly would like confirmation that this is the right product for mangaris. Thanks!

Do you suggest wet on wet over deck surface and if so, how?

After reviewing the thread, I have a question. We used the TWP dark oak and don’t like the final color. Why can’t we top coat with black walnut? I need a detailed answer, not just “you can’t do it, please. Why can’t you? What happens if you do? How is it different than just adding another coat of the same color? The answer, “You can’t” doesn’t make sense.

I am in a similar situation to Chris above.
The Dark Oak was just applied to fresh (6 month old) redwood. I would like a darker look.
Should I wait a year for our scheduled retreatment to apply the new stain? The wood still seems a little ‘Thirsty’. My guys put on a pretty thin coat.

Thanks – definitely appreciate your support on this forum.

I’m considering mixing black walnut , which I have in hand, with 1500 clear to stain western cedar fencing. I’m hoping for a lighter version of black walnut… What can I expect?

Is the 1500 series black walnut ok to use for pine fence, and is the best application rub on with a rag ,paint brush or a sprayer?

I used twp 1500 dark oak on my  pine fence (not pressure treated).  I was wondering if I could put black walnut as a second coat to make the finish a little darker or should I just apply a secod coat of dark oak.  Also since my fence is not pressure treated, do you recommend using polyurethane afterwards.

My deck has a blue-grey stain that I have power washed and still has, for the most part a lighter version of the same color. Will this dark walnut stain cover it?

If I want to do a two toned deck with black walnut on the floor of the deck, what color would you recommend for the railings? A solid color? Thanks!

I didn’t know if you recommend any particular color that would compliment the black walnut or look good with it as the second color?

Can two colors of the SAME product (TWP 1500 or 200) series be mixed to achieve a different color? Can TWP 200 be used on fir tongue and groove porch flooring?
