Over applied. Ash is a hardwood. TWP is not suggested for this wood type and if used only 1 coat should have been applied because of the woods density.

We live in a 2000 sq. ft. pine log siding. We have a 1200 sq. ft. garage made of the same materials. The logs are turning dark and need to be cleaned. The house finish is Superdeck oil 7100 Amberhue. We're thinking about pressure cleaning with walnut shells and stain with TWP1500 stain. What are your suggestion?

We also have a 2000 sq. ft. redwood deck that needs to cleaned and restained. Heart redwood DP 1905 oil base transparent stain is currently on the deck
Could I restrain the deck using TWP 1511? How about cleaning with Restore a Deck?? Any thoughts or suggestions for me?

You could strip and pressure wash to remove. Not sure if you will need the media blasting with the Walnut Shells. Once removed, brighten all the wood.

As for the deck, the old coating needs to come off as well. You will need a stain stripper or sanding to remove. Brighten after.

Hello, there is not a product designed to just clean dirt and not remove any of the stain. Try warm water and some dish soap to see if that does the trick. Being too "aggressive" with the cleaner could result in some of the stain lifting as well.

12 year old deck of roofed but open porch, of birch, attractive and in good condition except that there is a stain from some spill, and the sunny edges are kind of gray. Mildew always an issue with a good amount of shade from trees and roof, and in upstate NY with plenty of precipitation, clouds, cool and cold weather. Previously treated with Cabot, either natural or clear, and we have cleaned and sanded it; leaving some white in the softer layers of the grain in the sunnier portion of the deck.

Did you remove all of the Cabot? If so apply two coats wet on wet of the TWP 1500 Series. If not, you should remove the Cabot with this:

Birch deck under covered but open porch, 12 years old, in good condition except for some graying on the sunny edge, some mildew, and a stain that no solvent removes.
We previously stained deck with a neutral or clear Cabot, or maybe Sikkens stain.
We have used deck cleaners, and then sanded it. We live in upstate NY, plenty of precipitation, clouds, cool and cold weather, and mostly shaded by trees in the afternoon.

Did you remove all of the Cabot? As for the furring, lightly sand or buff prior to applying the 1500 Series.
