    Michael Rosenblum:
follow up to first question. I did not buy stripper only cleaner but since we are sanding will that effectively remove the old stain?

If you are sanding, do it first and then clean and brighten the wood for the final prep.

1 year old red western cedar. Full sun. vertical side of a house. Previous stain sherwin williams water based semi transparent. Failure at 1 year with mildew and pealing. Plan is to use restore a deck cleaner and brightener then sand to original color and to completely remove old stain. After sanding do you recommend anything prior to applying TWP?

    Debbie Walker:
Are there any pictures of finished projects in the different colors TWP offers? Trying to decide between Redwood and Rustic. Used Sherwin Williams Covered Bridge previously and want a similar color.

Colors vary based on wood type and age of wood. Best to try some samples on your wood: https://www.twpstain.com/stain-samples

    Karen Wickstrand:
We recently had a deck and boat house stained. The contractor used a Behr product (natural stain) water base and the problem was the color. We requested cedar tone and he applied natural. We want to re-stain with TWP 100 cedar tone. The contactor plans on using a foam based cleaner to clean surface before application. Will we be ok going forward with TWP 100?

No. You cannot apply TWP (or any other brand) on top of the Behr. You will need to remove the Behr and that requires stripping and sanding. Behr is not easy to remove, especially when just applied.

Is TWP 100 resistant to mildew and mold. I have a real problem with it. Is there an additive to use with TWP to help prevent Mildew and mold? Some paints have that.

TWP already contains and EPA registered mildewcide.

No. Best to weather and prep. See this about new wood:

I would like a color a little more brown than pecan. Can I mix dark oak and pecan together without issues. I'm going to be using twp100. Also my PT fence is one year old. How many initial coats should I apply?

Yes, you can mix them. 2 coats applied wet on wet.

I recently restrained my railing with Cedartone 100 series. I want to do a second coat but I can only buy 1500 series now. Will 1500 on top of 100'be OK?

Hello, no the 1500 cannot go on top of the 100 Series. Wait a couple of years, prep to remove the 100, and then apply the 1500.
