Used rustic 1500 last summer in New Jersey. Next summer will be two years. How do I prepare for a fresh coat? Thanks.

We live in the Portland Metro area, and was curious which of your deck stains holds up better, the 100 or 1500 Series?

You would want the TWP 1500 Series for this.

I would stain these condo decks with the TWP 1500 Series. Maybe the Honeytone or the natural tone.

Looking to recommend quality stain for 46 100 square foot cedar decks in our condo community in the natural color tones in the Austin (Lakeway) community. I love your website and all of the honest sources of experience (Good and Bad). What stain and preparation should be one for the longest life of the stain as a recombination to our 46 owners. We appreciate your help. P.S. Our decks are 5-6 years old, some stained before and some not. Duane Zimmerman

Ray, you need to clean and brighten the wood after the sanding to help the TWP penetrate correctly. TWP typically needs to be reapplied every 2 years as long as the wood is prepped correctly and the stain is applied correctly.

Hi I just sanded my dech to get to fresh wood- I restained it last year after powerwashing and it pealed after 2 months. Will your stain last longer? I have about 400 sq feet to do- how much stain do I need? I live in Grand Rapids MI- Is there someplace local to buy?
    Thanks for your help

Clears will not offer UV protection. I would look at Rustic or Redwood.

420sq ft of Meranti (brazilian mahogany) deck. 6 yrs. old. Oxycleaned and powerwashed. Used Cabot timber oil first year. Terrible product or I didn't know what I was doing. Wood has nice deep red tone to it naturally. Would be nice to apply clear finish but does not provide UV protection. Correct? Do you think the redwood stain would darken the natural red color?

Romeo, TWP 1500 is not compliant for Canada and cannot be sold there. You can buy the TWP 200 Series for Canada.

    Hi,
I have a new cedar shingle home. The shingles were installed last fall. I plan to stain it with TWP 1500. I live in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
Is there local dealers in this Province?
and how much would it cost to ship 2 to 3, 5gal pals?
    thanks

Tigerwood and all exotic hardwoods require annual maintenance. In addition clears have no UV protection. You need a tint/color for this. If you use the 1500 Series you would need the Honeytone for a "wet look". You will need to prep with the Gemini Restore A Deck Kit first.

Had a beautiful tigerwood raised deck installed about 2 yrs ago. Applied a competitor's clear finish product recommended by the wood supplier within 30 days of completion. The beautiful orange/brown tones have turned to silver gray-extremely disappointing. I have read all sorts of contradictory recommendations for deck restoration and am confused. Want to restore the wood to its original look for longer than 6 months. I live in Northern VA. Our home is a orange/brown brick and the tigerwood was perfect. Is your TWP1500 series product a good fit for my situation? To maximize the UV factor, would you recommend a stain color? I understand that clear doesn't have sufficient UV protection. Help. I want to restore the deck shortly. Also, what do you think about oxygen bleach-stain solver to clean the wood and rinse without pressure washer?

Janice, new wood is not absorbent. It needs to dry out and the mill glaze needs to be removed.

Why does a new deck have to "weather" before staining?

The 1502 is not lighter then the 102. Yes the 100 Series is compliant in Michigan. You can buy from us in Rochester Hills.

In a prior note, you recommended TWP 100 for my new pressure treated pine deck in Michigan. When looking at the colors however, the redwood 1502 looks a bit lighter than the redwood 102. it also looks a bit more attractive. So, if this is the case, why is the 100 series preferred over the 1500 series? Is the 100 series legal in Michigan? Lastly, where can I find this product nearby, zip code 48170? Thanks.

Red colors will last longer from Uv graying. Both Rustic and Redwood will be equal.
