RAD STRIP STEPS

Thickening Gel Additive for Restore-A-Deck Stripper - Clings up to 1 Hour

Restore-A-Deck Stain Stripper Thickening Gel is a special blend that is added to premixed 5-Gallons of the Restore-A-Deck Stain Stripper. With a longer dwell time, Restore-A-Deck Stripper Thickening Gel will raise the effectiveness of the stain stripping by adding the ability to cling to vertical and horizontal surfaces for up to 1 hour. Works especially well on improving the performance of the stripping on vertical wood such as wood railings, wood fences, and wood sided homes.

This product works as a Thickening Gel additive for the Restore-A-Deck Stain Stripper and is not effective as a standalone product.

Note: For even better results, use the Restore-A-Deck Stain Stripper Booster Additive in conjunction with Restore-A-Deck Thickening Gel. The Restore-A-Deck Stripper Booster will raise the effectiveness of the stain stripping up to 300%.

Where to Use Restore-A-Deck Thickening Gel

Restore-A-Deck Thickening Gel should be used to increased effectiveness in stripping difficult to remove wood and deck stain coatings. RAD Stripper Thickening Gel improves effectiveness on removal for most exterior wood and deck finishes including:

  • Increased effectiveness for vertical surfaces such as railings, wood siding, log homes, and wood fences
  • Longer dwell time for horizontal and decking surfaces.
  • Improves performance on Acrylic-based wood and deck coatings
  • Improves performance on Oil-based wood deck coatings and clear wood and deck sealers
  • Improves performance on Transparent wood and deck stains
  • Improves performance on Semi-transparent wood and deck stains
  • Improves performance on Semi-solid exterior wood and deck stains.

SURFACE PREPARATION:
Surfaces to be stripped must be above 50°F. Protect adjacent surfaces; cover with plastic sheets and/or tape off any adjacent areas not being stripped. Thoroughly wet and/or cover plants and shrubs. Rinsing residue will not harm plants or roots. Exposure to full strength product will burn foliage.

The Restore-A-Deck Wood and Deck Stain Stripper/Thickening Gel Additive needs to be neutralized with the Step 2 Wood Brightener.

*Will not remove excessively over applied stains, solid color stains, paints, or polyurethanes fully.

Hi- Last year we made some
repairs to our wooden play set. Replaced the rotted wood with pressure treated. Cleaned, prepped and stained everything with RAD and TWP EXCEPT the new pressure treated wood. Want to clean and stain the new pressure treated wood this year. Do I need to clean and redo the whole play set? Or can I just do the new pressure treated replacement boards?

Probably should do all as it will be hard to just prep and stain the new wood only.

I just purchased your Restore a Deck Stripper/Brightener before I saw this information about the Restore-a-Deck Thickening Gel and Booster. We are planning to remove TWP Cedartone 1501 and TWP 101 Natural Cedartone from cedar shingle siding on our house that was applied in July 2019. Do I need the Thickening gel also? If so, can you include it with my order? I can provide order details for you.

How can I determine whether or not I need to use the additives for deck prep without buying it and testing? I'm doing only horizontal decking which has had multiple coats of semitransparent stain previously over the years. I'm also curious why you just don't put the additives in to begin with instead of having everyone have to buy additional products.

Feel free to post a picture of what you are trying to remove to help determine if you need them or not.

Not all stripping jobs are the same so it is not always needed to have the additives.
