info buttonRestore-A-Deck Cleaner and Brightener system is a powerful "eco-friendly" two-part restoration system.

Step 1 Wood and Deck Cleaner that deeply cleans your wood to remove dirt, grime, mold, algae and general graying. The cleaner will help prep neglected wood and or prep for re-coating with a wood or deck stain.

Step 2 Wood Brightener is used after the wood cleaner to "brighten" the wood while neutralizing the cleaner to a natural pH balance. This step will improve the overall appearance of your wood while helping the wood deck stain longevity.

I installed a new cedar fence in Nov 2012. Do I need to use the restore-a-deck kit on new wood prior to staining it? I am interested in using the 1500 series stain in honeytone on he fence.

New wood needs to weather 4-12 months before cleaning and brightening with the Gemini Restore A Deck Kit. The wood prep product was discontinued.

I will be using TWP 100 Honeytone on a new Cedar deck. The manufacturer, Gemini, has a website video recomending Gemini\'s \"Wood Prep\" for new wood, but I don\'t find it as a product to purchase. The Cedar deck boards have been stacked outdoors, no spacers in it, for two months. How should I prep it after installation before staining? I want to apply the stain asap as winter temperatures are coming in the next 4-6 weeks.

Yes you should use the cleaner and brightener after sanding to remove sand dust and open the pores of the wood so that the stain will soak into the wood better.

I have sanded my deck. Now am wondering if I need to use a cleaner and brightener before I stain my deck with TWP...PS I Have very little water at my house and am worried about not having enough to wash all of the cleaner or brightener off, therefore I was thinking about not using the cleaner or brightener?

Coverage can vary widely depending on the condition of the wood. The dirtier and more grayed out the wood, the less the coverage. You do not need to reapply the cleaner from drying out, just mist with water.

Cleans about half the square footage stated. It needs to be mixed at about 8 oz per gallon (rather than 6 oz) and constantly reapplied over 15 minutes (to prevent it from drying out) before scrubbing with a stiff brush and then powerwashing off with a fan tip sprayer to prevent uneven removal of the surface layer of wood. It seems to work by dissolving the gray surface layer of wood. It leaves a \"bushy\" felt-like surface on the wood. I haven\'t stained yet with the TWP 1500. I\'ll let you know how it goes. 6-23-12

When switching brands it is best to remove the old coating so the TWP can properly adhere and penetrate into the wood.

2 years ago I used Cabot\'s tranparent oil based stain. Can I use clean and brighten to prep for TWP stain or will I need to use a stripper?

Oxalic acid is a wood brightener not a cleaner. You can use the Restore-A-Deck Kit to prep.

I am trying to prep my deck for TWP and have already used a cleaner that contained oxalic acid in it. I didnt get the results I wanted. Is is ok to use restor a deck next? I dont want to dry the wood out too much?

It is a eco-friendly cleaner. It would be helpful to pre wet and rinse any vegetation.

Restore-A-Deck is a cleaner that removes dirt, graying, grime, etc. or preps TWP for recoating.

It is not a stain stripper. It will remove very deteriorated TWP stain but probably not after only 2 years.
