We want to restore our deck and then apply TWP stain to make it look new. Once we do both steps in the Gemini restore a deck kit do we then apply TWP cedar or whatever color we want. I have used cedar on my house in the past but my daughters deck, she wants something a little darker and not an orange look, what color do you recommend? Sharon

Will the restore-a-deck product clean and brighten a deck make from pressure treated wood that has turned gray?

Yes but you will need to scrub or lightly pressure wash when using the kit.

I had posted a question on April 12 and you recommended soapy water to clean our deck if we don't need to stain yet. We do have some mildew and tannin bleed, which I don't think soapy water will help. Will the kit take off the stain or could we use it diluted some to prevent that to get the mildew up or what do you recommend? thanks!

Hard to say if it will or will not take off the TWP some. It depends on how will it has help up. You can mix the Cleaner at 2-3 oz per gallon to wash lightly.

I want to clean and restain the deck around my above ground pool. How do I handle rinsing the deck (pressure wsher) after I apply the deck cleaner/brightener?

Try to rinse away from pool to avoid getting dirt in there. The chemicals should not affect the pool water much or at all. Just check pH balance when done and adjust if needed.

Jeremy, usually the products will not effect the spindles but best to test first. If they do not have a smooth finish on the spindles than there is greater chance of having some discoloration.

Please use calculator on right to determine amount needed for the stain and Gemini Kit.

I would just clean to remove the mold that is growing on top of the stain and not restain.

Hello, I applied your twp 1500 oil stain to my new deck last fall. I noticed that there is some mildew on the deck. The deck is exposed to the sun, no overhanging trees.

What would you recommend that I use to clean the deck. Do I need to re-stain after I clean it? The size of the deck is 700 square feet.

    Thank you

Liisa, best to use the kit for re-staining. Try some soapy water to help remove the dust and dirt.

I used your stain remover, brightener and TWP stain last summer and my desk still looks good but the base needs to be cleaned. I don't think it needs restaining yet. Can I use the Gemini cleaner, brighter kit or should that only be used if your restaining?

If it is smooth than you will need to weather. Please read this:

    Hello,

I'm erecting a PT pine fence (about 200 linear feet) this spring. I'm using KD-HT boards.

Should I "weather" the boards before applying the stain? If so, how long should I let it weather? I live in Southern Indiana -- mild, wet springs, can be rather hot during the summer.

Also, should I use a cleaner/brightener product after weather and if so, which product in particular?

    Thanks!

Stella, for removal you would need the Restore A Deck Stripper and a light pressure washing. After removal, use the Restore A Deck Wood Brightener.
