What sort of process is involved with the cleaning/brightening kit? is this a hands and knees operation or a bit less labor intensive? We would like to order the kit but would like to know what we are getting into first, and we have concerns about the champion standard poodle show dogs in the household as well.

I have received samples of semi transparent 1500 series stains and have made a choice.

Pretreated pine fence (144 feet)built by Lowes 5/30/14.

Question: Can I purchase and do Gemini pretreatment in Oct/Nov? How soon afterwards can I do the stain?

    Thank you.

    Mary

Yes you can do this in October/November as long as the weather is warm enough. Stain 2 days after the Gemini Kit prep.

The Behr stain I applied two years ago is heavily peeled and has some mildew. The cleaner and stain I use must be safe for the koi pond right next to the deck, considering potential overspray and runoff. Would appreciate your recommendation.

The cleaner is safe but you should not get the stain into the water as it is oil based and will float on top of the pond water.

Live in the NW on a salt water beach. Last year cleaned my 30 yr old cedar deck, sanded, staining with TWP; this year would like to clean and brighten it and then apply a second coat of stain. I have your Restore-A-Deck kit. After applying the step 1 cleaner, can I wait a day, wet, and then do the step 2 brightener? Or, must I do it right away? Thanks, PK

You should brighten right after the cleaning.

I just wanted to say that I used the Restore-a-Deck on my 2 yr old (never been protected ) Pressure treated pine deck earlier this week. Last night I finished up before sunset and the deck looked nice. When I looked at it this morning with the morning sun drying it up I was AMAZED! It looked better than the day it was built. If it looks this good now,I can't wait to see what it looks like after I apply the TWP 1500. Its nice to see results like this when you spend the time to research a product and work hard to get those results. More to follow. Thanks

Awesome! Thanks for the post. When applying the TWP make sure to apply evenly and do not over apply. If some stain does not absorb after 40 minutes you can wipe off the excess with a rag. Make sure to follow the directions on the can. It is not hard to apply, just do not want you to think that more is better.

During a recent remodel, my contractor used TWP-100 to seal plywood flooring since the framing above it was postponed a few months and the plywood was open to the weather.

I want to paint the floor, rather than stain it - so what prep would you recommend to remove your product well enough for the plywood to accept Benjamin Moore porch paint?

Use the Restore A Deck stain Stripper and pressure washing.

I have a WRC dock stained with 2 coats of TWP 105 applied wet on wet. The stain is still in good shape but starting to look thin. I want to re-stain with more 105 before the current stain starts to fail. What do you recommend I do/use for prep in this situation?

Use the Gemini Restore Kit for the prep.

Just had a redwood deck installed. We live in Colorado where the sun is very intense. What would the proper timeframe be before applying the TWP stain - still the 4 months minimum / 12 months maximum? Thanks!

    Brian D:
Hi, I have cedar deck that I stained with TPW 1501 last year. It looked awesome and perfomred well through the PA winter. Althogh it still pefromed well, the deck became very dirty over the last year and when I called to order more stain, the lady on the phone said to use the restore a deck at a lesser strength to not take the stain up. I used it at half strength and now most of the stain is gone. There are spots where it is not. is it okay to restain as is? what can I use in the future to just clean the dek without having to take the stain off? Thank you.

Yes you can apply the coat of stain to the wood. It is best to use the Gemini when reapplying the TWP for the prep as the new coat will adhere better. When not reapplying try just cleaning with a little bit of soapy water and a soft push broom to remove dirt.
