Is this product safe to use on composite decking? My decking material manufacturer recommends GEMINI WOOD BRIGHTENER PLUS. But I cannot find it anywhere.

I have a fairly new deck, 1 year. I have pressure washed it but still need to clean it. I plan on using the 1500 series stain. What do I need to clean it with?

Prep it with this item, the Gemini Restore a Deck Kit.

I just stained my deck using TWP 1500 after using the Gemini restore kit (cleaner/brightener). I missed a section of the deck when I did the brightener phase and didn't realize it until after staining because the wood is darker in this section. Can I still use the brightener in that spot AFTER staining? If so, will it harm the stain and will it brighten the wood?

Sorry but that is not possible to brighten after the staining. You would need to strip and start over.

    Tod Anderson:
I used both products on my cedar deck 3 months ago. I need to stain it but I noticed the wood had grayed again. I used the brightener to refresh it, but noticed some dirt and light mildew in places. If I use the cleaner on those areas again, will i have to use the brightener (step 2) again? Or will cleaning it be enough?

If you use the cleaner, you have to brighten after to neutralize.

My deck is too big to clean at one time so I will do it in segment over the course of a few days. Should I apply the brightener right after cleaning each segment, or can I do all the cleaning over the course of a few days and then apply the brightener all at once?

Clean all and brighten all after when done.

    Richard Dame:
I applied one coat of TWP 1500-1 to a new redwood deck 18 months ago. It still looks good but is light in a few spots. I would like to re-coat it with the same finish, should I use the Gemini restore-a-deck product before I apply this second coat, or simply wash it with soap and water ?

Since it has been 18 months, we would suggest the kit for the prep.

    Johnny Rinehold:
My cedar deck is 8 years old and has been treated with Superdeck maybe 3 or 4 times. It's very dark in places but in very good shape otherwise. We get 60 to 70 inches of rain from Oct to Apr. The summers are warm & sunny. I live 40 miles from the Pacific Ocean in the Southern Oregon Siskiyou Mts. According to your calculator our deck is 946 sq ft. It says I need 2 Gemini kits plus 10 gallons stain. What kind stain and what other tools do I need.

Need to prep with the Restore A Deck Stripper kit to remove the Super Deck. You will need two kits of this. Apply the stripper with a pump sprayer and pressure wash off. 10 Gallons of the TWP. Use the 100 Series.

    Dave Kisker:
I'm working on preping our unfInished redwood fence, constructed fall 2014. After applying the cleaner and power washing, a sort of "gel like" goo appears--almost has an alligaored appearance. Tried both scrubbing and more power washing and it seems to reappear in places. Decided to let it dry and see what happens. Now there are areas that are very light grey, that may have been left behind, but no more goo. Do i need to do more cleaning or is this something that the brightener will clean up?

Never heard of a gel like coming out of your wood. Nothing to do with the cleaner. Just rinse well and brighten.

My pressure treated wood is 7 months old. Doesn't look gray or in bad shape at all. It's at a very sunny spot in Georgia and some bare wood is showing. I know it needs to be cleaned but do I need Restore A Deck or can I just use normal household cleaners? Same question about the brightener. Since the wood is so new do I need them both? Thank you!

Yes you need to properly clean with a deck cleaner and a wood brightener. This removes the mill glaze on the new wood.

Before using the Gemini cleaner on my new deck... do you have to lightly water the deck down? Or just put it on with a sprayer? thanks...Jerry

    Lightly mist with water.
