We have 3 decks pressure treated lumber used
One deck is 10 yrs one is 8 yrs and one is 5 yrs
All of them connect to each other
We used defy and it isn't holding up
We live by water ... there is mold and mildew and no peeling but the stain has faded .
What do you recommend to re seal it and the best way to do so

Hello, the Defy will need to be removed before using the TWP. Use the Stripper Kit and pressure washer for this: https://www.twpstain.com/restore-a-deck-stripper-brightener-kit-detail

Once removed, use the TWP 1500 or the 100 Series.

Will the cleaner/brightner be harmful to plants/shrubs? Thank you, Ed

If you prewet the plants and rinse well when done, you will not have any issues.

I want to stain my whole deck ( 1/2 has never been stained and was added 1 yr ago and the other half was stained w/ twp aprox 4 yrs ago) so it will all match. Do I use the cleaner, brightner and stripper( on the faded already stained part) Please tell me I do not have to sand.

Restore A Deck Stripper and Brightener for the older half and Gemini Cleaner and Brightener for the newer half.

The Gemini Kit is designed for prepping when reapplying the TWP, not just for general cleaning as it may remove some of the current stain. This is normal for prep.

Best to put the umbrella back in the same spot if not reapplying the TWP.[/quote]

Thanks for clarifying the Kit, was very worried because of the last time (but i did use a deck brush to help it clean which I don't think I will do this year). Since i have cleaned everything very well (sponge and soapy water all surfaces) can I just use a sprayer to apply part 1, let it sit as recommended and then use sprayer to apply part 2, then rinse - so no scrubbing at all to lessen stain removal?
Also, should I use it more dilutated (i read somewhere that for maintenance coat use at half strength if no issues - and since the only issue i have it very isolated to 2 handrail top boards that are 14 and 20 feet long everything else but under umbrella looked good)?

Yes you can do that. Use at 4-6 oz per gallon of water.

I use Restore-A-Deck kit in 2016 and it ended up removing some of my existing TWP 100 (stained in 2014) so I had to sand everything down and start from scratch instead of just a maintenance coat.
I only have time and energy for maintenance coat this year, (2017). I have cleaned everything with soapy water and it looks good except for 2 issues.
    1) I have some small black streaking on the top handrail. Can I use safely use this to clean and brighten without removing the existing stain which has otherwise held up well over the last year?
    2) i had an offset umbrella out all year and during cleaning noticed the area under it has not faded at all, I do not want to strip or sand the whole deck for this 2ft by 2ft area, any ideas? I can put umbrella back in same place to hide it if only way to lessen the difference is strip and/or sand.

    Good morning,
What is the typical time frame/sequence following steps 1 & 2 before applying new stain? How long after Step 1 to wait for Step 2 and how long following Step 2 to re-stain?

    Thanks.

Step 2 goes on right after you are done with the Step 1, while wood is wet. Wait 48 hours to dry before staining.

We have a new screened porch with pressure treated pine sides. We are located in AL and are planning to use TWP100 after waiting a couple of months for aging/drying. The floor of the porch is slate with a sealer, enhancer on it. I understand the need for the Gemini prep kit but am concerned with potential damage to the finish of the slate floor. Should I be?

Wait 4-12 months before staining. No issues with this Kit harming a sealer for slate.

I stained with TWP a year ago and i want to restain it. I have some rust spots from metal furniture will the restore a deck remove these or will i need to strip the TWP and sand?

Depends on how deep the rust has soaked in. Sanding may not even be able to get it out. The Step 2 brightener is the most effective at removing rust stains, not the cleaner or stripper.

When I use the cleaner to prep my deck for staining. Do I also need to use the brightener after the 1st step. I'm not taking of my twp stain I put on. Just re doing my stain to protect the wood from sun snow ect...

It is helpful to use the brightener to neutralize after the cleaner.
