Best TWP Stain for IPE

by TWP Stains

In terms of natural beauty, not many wood types compare to IPE. This beautiful exotic dense wood fairs well in a variety of climates but should still have a protective finish to resist weather damage. A weatherproof coating will warrant a long lasting finish while stopping the damaging effects of Mother Nature.

To find the best TWP stain for IPE look no further than the 100 Series formula. TWP 100 is the ultimate choice for IPE wood’s dense nature. 100 Series has outstanding penetrating capabilities to help avoid UV fading, discoloring, cracking, and board warping. All TWP Stains are a registered EPA wood preservative although the higher VOC levels found in the 100 Series prevents it from being compliant in all 50 states. Check your area for compliancy.

TWP 100 is offered in a variety of colors that will enhance the beauty of IPE wood surfaces. It is not vulnerable to mold or mildew, which is the leading reason for wood decay. It is best applied in 1-2 coats contingent upon the age of the IPE and porosity. If applying 2 coats, it is best to apply wet on wet for a better finish.

If TWP 100 is not compliant in your area, the 1500 Series Stain is the next best choice in protecting IPE. The 1500 Series is compliant in every state with its low VOC formula. It is also an EPA registered wood preservative. It is easy to apply and will enhance the beauty of IPE wood and is offered in a range of tones. This more compliant formula also contains special mildewcides to ward off mold and mildew spores.

The best TWP Stain for IPE is the 100 Series or where not compliant, try the 1500 Series Wood Stain. Either will adequately protect against harsh weather conditions while enhancing the natural beauty of IPE.

Rustic Color is the most popular color that will highlight the reddish brown color of IPE.

I have a large IPE deck in California. I have power washed it and it looks beautiful have a light natural color. I would like to put on the 100 Series to the deck, but would like to keep it as light and natural as possible. Do you have a suggestion for this deck?

We’re in the Pacific NW, hot and dry. Our new IPE decks have been down for 3-1/2 months and are mainly covered, so the steps are bleaching out but the main decks are not. We can use TWP 101 in WA, is it best to let them age until next summer? And is it absolutely necessary to sand, or will your cleaner get water stains out? Thanks.

I Have a new IPA Deck. Do you recommend the TWP 1500 ? I live in Connecticut and do not have access to the TWP 100. My Neighbor says the TWP 1500 is no longer recommend.

I live in Virginia and have a deck that faces a wooded lot. It is 10 years old now. I’ve tried the best grade stains that Home Depot & Lowe’s sell and been very disappointed. I carefully compiled with directions & still it lasted two years before re-application was required.
Then, 3 years ago I tried TWP after considerable research. You product is well explained by experienced pros. The stripping & neutralizing process went smoothly, followed by application of the TRW 100 series product. It looked great and held up very nicely for over 4 years on our wood deck. The best part was that it was EASY to apply & went on consistently.
I’ve just placed an order for the TRW 1500 series. The nice part is, I don’t have to strip the previous TWP off! After cleaning the wood deck, I’ll be able to apply the new stain in an afternoon and be ready to entertain two days later!
Thanks!

I am building a new IPE deck. I have used TWP 1500 on a redwood deck in California before with outstanding results.

Does one also use the prep kit to clean and brighten an IPE deck before applying TWP 1500? Looking to hear from others with experience. Thank you.

For any Ipe or hardwood decking surface, try either TWP 100 or 1500 Series deck stain. Both are excellent for enhancing the wood’s natural beauty and providing adequate weather protection.
