Can the semi solid stain be applied over the semi transparent series 100 stain without removing the semi transparent?  Thanks

What is the closest semi solid color match to twp116, Rustic. Thanks
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      TWP Stains · 09/19/2023
Since the Rustic 116 final color varies based on wood type and age, it is not possible to give a close match in the semi-solids. Look at Lighthouse, Redwood Forest, Heartwood, etc.

Hi! We were originally planning to use TWP 200 Butternut Brown on our fence. It is ~5 years old and previously had a clear coat on it, so there is some UV damage and discoloration. I am now considering using the semi-solid.
    1. Which would be better?
    2. If Semi-Solid is better, which color is closest to Butternut Brown and what is the color difference between them?
    3. How long before we would likely have to restain with semi-solid vs TWP 200?
    Thank you!

      1. Semi-solid has better UV protection.
      2. Since the Butternut final color varies based on wood type and age, it is not possible to give a close match in the semi-solids. Any of the brown tones should work for you.
      3. You should get an extra 1-2 years of UV protection.

Thank you! Would the Cedar Mulch be a good option?

Cedar Mulch is tan, not brown but is a very nice color.

I have cypress siding that I finished 10 years ago with TWP Cedartone 101. I want to refinish it again and add other unfinished siding. I am planning to clean it with RMR 86 to remove mold and mildew in order to refinish it and I was thinking of using a semi-solid color for better protection. Where I live the temperature range is 0 to 90 degrees F plus or minus 5 degrees.
    1) Will a semi-solid color be a better protection?
    2) Can it be applied directly on the siding without sanding once it is cleaned?
    3) Will there be a color difference between the new wood siding and the old wood siding?

I have stained my deck for the past 10years w TWP stains. My deck gets 90+ temps all summer and I'm leaning toward paint this time...any suggetions

TWP does not come in a solid stain or paint. Look at the semi-solid colors for longer UV protection.

I have sanded down the deck and used some wood hardener (minwax) on a few boards. I do have a couple spots that need some wood filler. Is there a wood filler that works best and  also what should I do before using the semi-solid stain?
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      TWP Stains · 08/04/2023
No, you cannot use a wood filler with TWP (or any exterior wood stain) stains. It will not stain to blend.

What about the wood hardener? Would that cause an issue with the stain?

Sorry but never heard of a wood hardener so not sure what you mean. Do you have pics?

You cannot use an interior product for exterior wood and stains. We are not sure if this will harm the TWP or not. If the wood is still porous and the TWP can soak in, then it should be fine.

How prone is the Semi-Solid vs TWP 100? Does it soak into the wood like a traditional oil based stain or does it coat the top like other solid/semi-solids on the market? I don't want anything that is prone to peeling.

      TWP Stains · 07/22/2023
It is a penetrating semi-solid stain, not filming.

What is the UV protection rating on TWP Semi-solid pro series? Versus the UV ratings on the other series?
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      TWP Stains · 07/17/2023
Hi. There is no such thing as a UV rating or a similar test for wood stains. The semi-solid being higher pigment will give UV protection than the semi transparent colors.

I'm looking at redoing these steps going from my garage into the house.  I'm looking for something that can withstand water and snow, and is NOT slippery if it is wet.  Thank you for any recommendations!

We are wanting to stain our deck posts along with top rails with a semi solid stain and have applied the charcoal sample.  Our posts are 6x6 greenwood pressure treated wood.  Will we need to do any cleaning or prep work before staining them and only 1 coat is needed, right? See attached pictures.

Can TWP 1500 stains be mixed with Semi Solid Pro stains. I mixed a couple samples to get a shade I like but wanted to know if it will hurt anything by mixing.

Can I stain right over my existing water based semi transparent stain which has been on for 3 years now and is very faded and starting to gray now?

No, you have to remove any prior stain coatings when switching stain brands. For help, post some pics in the comments.

I ordered 3 gallons of the weathered cedar but it looks exactly like the super cedar. Is there any color that I can mix with it to make it look less orange? Thank you.

    2 questions…
1)can I apply TWP semi-solid over 4.5yr old TWP 100? Bare in some places after pressure washing.
2)what color is most similar to Pecan?
    • We will reply to your comment shortly
      TWP Stains · 04/17/2023
      1. Strip and Brighten if switching.
      2. There is not a matching color to the Pecan. Maybe Earth or Musket.
