mda, it would be best to strip the cetol first then brighten the wood. Use the 1500 Series for this.

12 year old deck, cedar, good condition, last stained three years ago with Sikkens Cetol 1. Best product to use and do I have to strip the deck first?

Diane G, you cannot use TWP on top of another stain. The CWF should be removed first.

I currently have cedar siding about 5 years old. We stained the siding with Flood stain transparent. We will need to restain the entire house and railings. With this product work over the other stain and can I get this in New York State?

You sugegsted that I use TWP 100 for one year old pressure treated deck, never stained, in Minnesota. Why is TWP 100 preferred over TWP 1500 for this deck?

And would you use two coats or one coat is adequate.

    Thanks,

Ron, clear sealers have zero UV protection. You need a tint in the stain to achieve this. The TWP in a tinted color lasts about 2 years on a horizontal.

Goldy, you will need to strip and remove to start over. I sent an email with a more detailed response.

Hayesbamp, you must have color in your stain if you want to prolong the UV graying. This will change or enhance to look. See this about new decks: http://www.twpstainhelp.com/prepping-new-wood-for-twp-stains/

Mark M, I would use the 100 Series for this. One 5 gallon pail should be enough.

My deck is 4 years old, cedar, which is in good shape, but would like to apply a longer lasting clear coat seal to it. I would like to clean the wood, removing the old sealant, Olympic Waterguard for Wood. I have a 570 square foot deck with railings. How long would TWP 1500 last compared to having to do it every year currently?

20 years; cedar; good; previously stain with solid stain. Deck is under covered porch. We had it sanded down to original wood. Inexperienced workers applied 1 coat of 1500 cedartone. While we were out of town they came back and applied 2 more coats wet on wet. After more than a week, the surface is still sticky. We have not walked on it, but in large sections it appears the stain is rising up in a flakey like haze. Will this dry out eventually? Is there something we can do to fix this without re-sanding and starting over?

Age of deck: new. Being built now
Type of wood: pressure treated pine
    Condition of wood: excellent
Wood has not been stained before
The deck is a two tier deck that meets up to a section of the above ground pool. We have black metal spindles in the railing. We want to keep the wood looking the way it does now. When should I apply and what should I use?

Bill, the 1500 would be best and you would need 2-3 gallon for the 2 coats.
