I have a 20 years old pressure treated wooden deck located by the sea in Massachusetts. I applied Sikkens Cetol SRD in natural finish two years ago after power washing it with OXY deck cleaner. This spring 50% of the stain started to peel. Also some of the boards have a splits in it. What would be the best way to treat is now. I already cleaned it with Wolman Deck Brite and then power washed it. There is still some old stain left that stick pretty well to the wood. I would like to apply TWP 1500 (I wish I could use TWP 100. Can I apply it now or should I do more prepping work on the deck. The weather is getting cold at night -- drops to 40 sometimes. Can I still do it or should I wait till spring. Thank you.
You cannot apply TWP over the Sikkens. You should strip off the remaining sikkens with the Restore A Deck stripper we sell. Use the RAD Brightener after to neutralize. You can still stain through October. Just make sure it does not drop below freezing the night you apply the TWP.
