I have a deck with some algae growth. Do I need to add a cleaning step in between stripping and brightening?

Will the stripper and brightener remove CWF-UV from a Pine Log cabin? Or can you use Restore-a-Deck? Cabin is 25 years old and last CWF-UV was applied 10 years ago. Plan to use TWP 100 or 1500 afterwards.

Use the Restore A Deck Stripper. Brightener Kits and pressure washing to remove for the prep.

Used BM Arborcaot translucent on our deck last year. Its peeling up on over half the deck this year. They are going to send us a stripper/brightener and new product. If I use their stripper/brightener, would I need to use this product? Or can i just use TWP after i use the BM stripper/brightener? We WILL NOT be reapplying the BM product, even though its free. We plan on using the 100 series TWP stain.

    Hello,

To use the TWP the BM arborcoat must be removed 100%. Our stripper will not remove the Arborcoat and we are extremely skeptical that their stripper will remove it 100%. Reviews and info online about the Arborcoat back this up as customers have to sand it off to remove fully. Hopefully, it does come off for you so you can use the TWP 100 Series.

How soon must RAD be neutralized after application and WHY ? Can I use the brightener at a later time before staining ?

It should be done as soon as you are done stripping to neutralize the stripper and prevent any potential furring of the wood. The only exception would be if you plan on sanding for some reason. You would brighten after the sanding.

    Chris Cygan:
I have recently installed some replacement CCA boards on my deck and bought 4 gallons of the Cedar tone TWP.

My plan is to wait until next year to stain so the wood is "seasoned"

Would it be okay to strip and brighten the deck this year to get off the bulk of existing non TWP semi transparent stain?

This way there would be less to remove next year. Would you suggest applying the stripper and brightener next year?

    Thank you.

Probably not best to leave deck unfinished for an entire year. You will also have to repeat next year with a deck cleaner and a wood brightener.

    Greg Kapatos:
Hello, we have a cedar deck that was stained last year, supposedly with one of your products. The deck is already faded and worn to the wood in some spots. Needless to say this time we are planning on re-staining the deck ourselves! Problem is we are not certain which of your products was used previously. Does it make a difference if we are going to use your cleaning/brightening products and your TWP 1500 Cedar stain? Thanks!

You should be fine with the 1500 Series as long ay you prep with the Gemini Restore Kit.

We have a deck that we have power washed but now need to remove remaining product. The previous owner either painted it or used a solid stain- not sure which it is. We've neglected the deck for about 10 years and are planning on using the TWP 100 series to stain it. Will the Restore a Deck remove paint? Any other suggestions to prep before staining? The deck is on the north side of house with extreme weather. High traffic. Thank you!
No it will not remove paint. No stain strippers will remove a paint. You will need to sand the paint off fully before using the TWP.

I'm in Toronto Canada. Do you have a dealer where I can pick up from in the Niagara or Buffalo area, NY?

We do not have dealers in those areas.
