Hi - my redwood deck was stained with TWP 1500 2.5 yrs ago. Horizontals need to be redone since stain has worn away in patches, verticals still look ok but not as deep in color as they once were. Can I prep with just the deck wash with a little scrubbing and the brightener? I am trying to avoid using the harsher stripper since the deck sits on top of low slope roofing material and I am concerned about compromising the roof. Pls advise.

Yes that should be fine for the prep.

Will the Stain Stripper and Brightener harm color vinyl siding? What precautions are recommended or necessary to protect the color vinyl siding?

Pre wet and rinse the vinyl from over spray and you should be fine.

So, are the steps in the process 1. Strip, 2. Clean, 3. Brighten, and 4. Stain? My deck is in pretty bad shape so I was thinking I'd strip it before cleaning and brightening just to be safe. What do you guys think?

No need to clean if you are stripping so you can skip that step.

I have a 1200 sf older pressure treated wood deck that was previously painted with latex paint. it is worn and cracking. Should I strip and sand before using a solid stain. Do I have to get all the previous paint off before solid stain? Will RAD Stripper in a pressure washer get the latex paint off?

RAD Stripper does not remove solid opaque stains 100%. No stripper will. It will help remove what is loose and unstable so when you recoat with another solid, it will adhere better.

    Mike_12:
Do I need to clean the accumulated crud from my deck prior to using the stripper product or will it also take off the dirt?
    Thanks

The stripper will loosed the "crud" so your pressure washer or scrubbing will remove it.

    Bob Hull:
My house is cedar lap siding and for 40 years coated with semi-solid brown stain. If I use your restore-a-deck stripper will it remove that so I can use your 1500 rustic instead?

Hard to say if it will work or not. 40 years of buildup is extremely diffiuclt to remove and even more so when it is a semi solid. If the RAD Stripper does not remove it then you will need to corn cob blast or similar to remove.

see my previous comments. I have spent 2days using cleaner and power washer. I have come to believe I should have used the stripper to begin with. the vertical surfaces still bead up so the cleaner does not work. the horizontal surfaces now look very blotchy.am worried that twp will not look good. I thought my last stain with twp was 3-4 years ago but found recipient for washer when I used twp. it was 6/12. disappointed in how well stain held up. was cracked and badly faded. I thought twp was the best on the market. I now need to do whole deck with stripper then the step 2. I have powder coated alum spindles with so sanding the vertical surfaces would be "fairly" manageable. any help there

TWP last 2-3 years on horizontals and 3-6 on verticals. This is normal and no stain on the market will last longer then this on a horizontal surface. Best to strip off the stain to ensure an even application with the Restore A Deck Stripper and use the brightener after. It will take it off.

    Larry Leong:
Does the restore-a-deck remove the color of the old stain?

This is a stripper so it removes the old stain down to the bare wood.
