I have stainless steel railing that I am unable to remove. Will the stain remover and brightener damage this, and if so how can I prevent that?It will be impossible not to get stain on the steel.

The Stripper and Brightener should not harm the stainless steel but always best to test first. There is no way to keep it off when cleaning.

mlinarz:
Our pine siding has black mold specks/stains throughout. 2 questions:
1. Should we bleach siding prior to using stripper or will the stripper itself take care of the mold.
2. Will we need to mask the aluminum trim on all the windows, or is stripper harmless to painted aluminum.
Thanks!

The stripper will remove the mold. Best to protect the painted trim.

Jack Anderson:
I am going to remove the existing stain and clean and sand my deck before staining. Do you recommend using the stripper in addition to the kit 1&2?

I do not understand your steps. Are you sanding, stripping, cleaning, etc. If you have an old stain then you should strip, not clean for the prep. Are you removing an old stain? If so what brand and type of stain is it?

Is there any other way to apply this other than a power washer or pump sprayer? Confused about how many square feet this covers, is it 200, 500 or 1,000.

Only apply with a pump sprayer or inject through pressure washer. Each container makes 5 liquid gallons. 5 gallons will cover between 500-1000 sq. feet depending on the coating being removed.

I have a 320 s.f. deck that was stained using Behr Acrylic "Penetrating" stain. The Behr product never did penetrate bu has a "waxy' feel on vertical surfaces. It's failed and peeled on all horizontal surfaces. Will Restore-A-Deck remove this Behr Product?

Depends on how bad it is, how many coats, and which version of the Behr. In most cases ti comes off but sometimes you need to strip a few times. You will need a pressure washer as well.

Jim F:
I have a 10+ yr old 400sq ft cedar deck. Recently sanded and stained with cabot semi transparent stain (5 yrs ago). Time to refinish again. Still has some solid stain in deep knots that won't come up without significant sanding from before previous job. Can you recommend prep and stain product?

You can use the RAD stripper to remove the old Cabot but no stripper will remove the solid stain. It may remove some of the solid stains. Make sure to sue the RAD brightener when done to neutralize.

Will the Restore-A-Deck Stripper and Remover remove a spar urethane clear semi gloss coat (peeling)?
No it will not. You will have to sand that.
My contractor is telling me he can not remove all of the polyurethane, even using 80 grit sand paper. Some of the boards have cupped, making it difficult to remove the polyurethane. He wants to use a "super stripper". I am very reluctant to allow him to use a stripper. He raised a concern about sanding the wood too smooth, closing the wood pores. I have told him I don't care if the rough cut cedar is sanded smooth to remove the cupping and would rather see the wood sanded than using a stripper. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Sorry but not sure on this one. I do not it is near impossible to sand rough cut and cupped wood.

Margie d:
Will this product remove Sikkens from my deck?

Depends on which version of Sikkens. The SRD for decks is should as long as not excessively over coated. It will not remove the shiny/varnish type Sikkens that is used for log cabins.
