Surface Preparation:

1. Determine square footage of area to be cleaned.
2. Shake product thoroughly.  In a 5 gallon plastic mixing container, dilute one part Brightener with 4 parts tap water.  Stir diluted solution thoroughly.  For hard to clean, dark, weathered wood surfaces and for rust removal, use product full strength. Test solution in a hidden area before applying.  Do not apply product if surface and air temperatures are below 50°F or above 90°F.
3. Lightly dampen surfaces prior to cleaning
4. Apply solution liberally with a Deck Sprayer, brush, mop or roller.  Keep the surface wet for 10-15 minutes.  Reapply solution as needed to keep the surface wet and foaming during the cleaning period.
5. Scrub surface using a stiff bristle broom brush.  The solution will foam.
6. After the 10-15 minute cleaning period, rinse the surface using a garden hose with nozzle at maximum pressure or use pressure washer at 500 PSI.  Surfaces other than wood may be dulled if not rinsed off quickly.  Repeat the above procedure on extremely dirty surfaces.  Allow prepared surfaces to dry 48 hours minimum before applying TWP®, Total Wood Preservative.

* Use caution when using Wood Brightener for Cedar & Redwood, wet surfaces will be slippery.

I have a 25 year old mountain cedar cabin which I have stained with TWP 500 Light Cedar over the past 10 years at about 3-5 year intervals. Great product. I have used a variety of strippers, cleaners, and brightners with varied success. I am about to re-stain two of the sides. What combination of your preparation products do you recommend I use? The siding has darkened, has dirt, stains , and mold in some areas with some stain from the prior aplication remaining. Greg

re: Consumer
To prep I would suggest the Safe Strip followed by the wood brightener.

For the stain, you will need to switch to the TWP 1500 Series as the 500 Series has been discontinued. The 1515 Honeytone is the closest in color to the 515 Light Cedar
